✧ LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT ✧

What Self Centered Really Means

Being Self Centered as a leader is not about feeding your ego or having selfish motivation.

It's about putting on your own oxygen mask first, so you can help others.

Leaders in community support organizations have huge hearts, coming into their roles passionate about helping others. Constantly focusing on others is not sustainable, however, and drives disatisfaction, burnout, and turnover in person-centered support professionals.

Self Centered leaders build the capacity to lead their teams effectively by putting themselves at the center of their focus and development. By learning actual skills to raise self-awareness, self-confidence, and self-compassion, we build service leaders who last.

"Upon meeting Emily for the first time during my former professional career, I was impressed by how quickly she learned and understood my managerial role and the tasks I performed daily. Over the years, she supported my professional growth through continued education in my field. Despite the many challenges I faced in my position, Emily worked tirelessly to find solutions that ensured smooth and successful operations. Emily has a unique ability to transform a dry subject into an inspirational art piece. Her energy in a room is astounding, and she puts a lot of thought into creating a fun and inviting atmosphere for everyone. As a mentor, Emily promotes self-care, identifies goals, and embraces change—both in herself and in others. She maintains an open mind, yet she is unwavering when it comes to accountability. I am truly grateful for the opportunity to have had Emily inspire me to be more and do more. Her guidance has significantly impacted my life, both professionally and personally."
